Luna and the Sleepiest Blanket

The blanket

The blanket was cream-colored, soft as a cloud, and warm from the dryer. Ahmad folded it and placed it on Luna’s bed. Luna approached cautiously, sniffed it, and then did three circles before flopping down with a sigh so deep it seemed to come from her toes. This, she decided immediately, was the best blanket in the history of blankets.

The perfect nest

Luna spent the morning perfecting her nest. She pawed the blanket into a hollow, circled again, flopped, adjusted, and finally settled with her nose tucked under her paw and the blanket pulled over her back like a duvet. She peeked out, confirmed the nest was perfect, and closed her eyes. The art of the nap had reached new heights.

Buddy’s interest

Buddy noticed the blanket. He walked over, sniffed it, and looked at Luna. Luna opened one eye. Buddy sat down beside the bed, trying to look casual. Luna sighed the sigh of a puppy who knows what is coming, and scooted over, making room. Buddy curled up on the edge of the blanket. It was, he had to admit, an excellent blanket.

Mac arrives

Mac saw Buddy and Luna on the blanket and experienced immediate blanket envy. He trotted over, carrying his toy mouse for no reason, and stood looking at the cozy pile. Luna, who was now the undisputed queen of the blanket, made room again. Mac squeezed in, the toy mouse was placed in the center like a crown jewel, and all three puppies sighed in unison. The blanket was now officially the best place in the house.

The nap

What followed was the greatest nap in Tiny K9 history. Three puppies, one blanket, complete harmony. Luna dreamed of butterflies. Buddy dreamed of perfect sits. Mac dreamed of sticks. Their paws twitched, their ears flicked, and once, all three sighed at the same time. Ahmad tiptoed past with a camera, captured the moment, and tiptoed away. Some moments are too perfect to disturb.

Blanket sharing rules

After the great nap, the puppies established blanket sharing rules. Rule one: Luna gets the middle, because it was her blanket first. Rule two: no hogging, everyone gets a corner. Rule three: if someone is cold, everyone scoots closer. Rule four: the toy mouse always sleeps in the center. The rules worked perfectly, and the blanket became the official headquarters of the unit.

Every evening

Now, every evening, the puppies gather on the sleepiest blanket. They do not need to be called. As the sun sets, they migrate to the blanket one by one, arrange themselves according to the rules, and settle in. Luna always falls asleep first, with a small smile. It is the perfect end to every day, on the perfect blanket, with the perfect company.

Field notes

A cozy blanket in a quiet spot gives your puppy a sense of security and a place that is truly theirs. Wash bedding regularly, choose materials that are warm but breathable, and let your puppy arrange it how they like. The perfect nest is the one they make themselves.
